Error – Hexadecimal value 0×13, is an invalid character

The error “hexadecimal value 0×13, is an invalid character” is known to happen in DotNetPanel with Windows Server 2008 when web.config file has been modified incorrectly or completely replaced. This is because IIS 7 uses the web.config to store it’s entire settings and any incorrect modifications or complete replacement to this file will cause the this error to happen

To resolve this please follow the below steps:

1. Make a note of all the virtual directories created for the website (virtual directory name and pointing path)
2. Remove the web.config file from the File Manager.
2. Delete the website from within DotNetPanel. (This will NOT delete any files of the website).
3. Re-add the website.
4. Setup all the virtual directories again.

Your DotNetPanel Space Summary has all the connection information that you need for your account, including server addresses.  A Hosting Space Summary is sent when you sign up.  However, if you’ve misplaced this, you can view it online or send to yourself at anytime.  To do this:

  1. Log into DotNetPanel.
  2. On the left of the home page, you will see your space(s).  For example, if you purchased the Standard.NET package, you’ll see “Standard.NET” as a link on the left.
  3. Click on the link for your space.
  4. On the Hosting Space Details page, you will see a section with “Tools” near the top on the right side of the page.  This has a link to the Space Summary Letter.
  5. Click on the link to view your Space Summary Letter.

Optionally, you can send via email by clicking the “Send” button near the top of the page. You can also send it to an alternative e-mail address by changing the e-mail address displayed before clicking the send button.

After your Reseller Hosting account is created, your main account will have it’s own Control Panel CPanel/WHM/DNP/Helm, just like all the other web hosting accounts you’ll create for your customers. However, the difference between your main account and all the other accounts, is that your main account will be given Reseller Privileges. You will have your own reseller interface called Web Host Manager (WHM)/DNP (Dot Net Panel)/ Helm which are what you’ll use to manage your web hosting business: create hosting accounts, set storage space and bandwidth limits, suspend/unsuspend accounts, and much more.

Set-up Web Hosting Packages

While creating packages, you’ll want to decide exactly what you want to provide in the web hosting plans you want to sell. You’ll have to decide things like:

* How much storage space and bandwidth to allocate to each account.
* How many email accounts to allocate to each account.
* How many FTP accounts, Parked domains, Subdomains, Addon domains, and MySQL DBs to allocate to each account.
* How much are you going to sell your web hosting plans for.

Once you’ve decided all these factors, you may login to your WebHost Manager and setup packages. Packages make creating new web hosting accounts much quicker and convenient, because you’re essentially pre-defining all the above variables, so that you only have to choose a package name when creating an account.
